Rahul gandhi’s ‘personal trip’ included a chess match, topped with politics

Rahul Gandhi’s ‘personal trip’ included a chess match, topped with politics

After putting up a tough fight against the rival Bharatiya Janata Party and winning battles in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, Congress president Rahul Gandhi is ready to blow off some steam. Accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her children, RaGa is chilling in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Reports mentioned that the family had travelled to the hill station by road and will be seeing Priyanka’s house which is under-construction at Chharabra. Of course, the holidays are a time to laze around but Rahul decided it was a good idea to keep his cognitive skills sharpened.

At the Institute for Children with Special Abilities, RaGa interacted with some of the kids and shared a picture of himself playing chess with one of the attendees of the school. Both players looked pretty engrossed in the match and from the look of it, Rahul had already killed his opponent’s pawn. We think it was a pretty neat by the Congress top boss – taking a break, visiting an institute for children with special abilities and also checking out his family’s requirements. Three birds with one stone.

Rahul had informed that he was on “a personal visit to Himachal”, though a Times Now report claimed that he enquired about the political developments that were going around in that state. However, the Himachal Pradesh Congress president Sukhwinder Sukhu was quoted by the news outlet as saying: "I have no official information about Rahul's visit to Himachal."

rajinikanth joins the bandwagon of political leaders with their own television channels

Rajinikanth joins the bandwagon of political leaders with their own television channels

Superstar Rajinikanth seems to be taking his political career very seriously as after dominating the silver screen for decades, Thalaiva is all set to make his presence felt in politics. What can be called as a move to strengthen his political grip in Tamil Nadu, the 68-year-old politician-turned-actor is all set to launch his own television news channel and two other channels. While last year around the same time, Rajinikanth had announced his decision to join politics, his move to launch his own channel is seen as a medium to reach out to the common people.

Reportedly, the process of registering the channel has already begun in full swing and Rajini’s channels will join the long list of already crowded Tamil political channels. The names in consideration of these channels are Rajini TV, Superstar TV, and Thalaivar TV respectively. Rajini’s team is in the process of taking steps to get trademark protection for all three channels and accordingly, the actor has applied for securing trademarks for the three names under the guidance of VM Sudhakar, a close friend of Rajinikanth.

In a letter addressed to the Registrar of Trademarks, Rajinikanth has given his thumbs up to use his name and other details on the channel. “I, R Rajinikanth have no objection to use my name, photo on the logo and label. I request the registrar to process the application to the next level,” reads the letter signed by him.

Apart from Rajinikanth, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam, the party of the late chief minister J Jayalalitha also had announced earlier this year the names and emblem of four television channels. While the general entertainment channel will be called J TV, there will be three channels focused on music (MusicJ), Movies (MoviesJ) and News (NewsJ). The first ones to enter the television business from the political background were the nephews of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi who started Sun TV. It was followed by J Jayalalithaa’s Jaya TV. AIADMK also has its newspaper News J.

Other political leaders like Ramadoss’ Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has his channel Makkal TV, Vijayakanth’s DMDK has his channel Captain TV, Dalit party Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) of Thirumavalavan had launched his channel christened Velicham TV and MDMK leader Vaiko has Mathimugam TV respectively.

Gautam gambhir turns all-rounder, to switch to politics soon?

Gautam Gambhir turns all-rounder, to switch to politics soon?

Veteran Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir is all set to begin his new innings on a different pitch altogether. The 36-year-old attacking batsman, who made his mark on the 22-yard cricket field will now venture into politics in the coming days.

Reportedly, Gautam will be contesting in the next year's general elections from Delhi and will be representing the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). The Cricketer who has a huge fan following in the country will be one of the important faces of the party, which is planning to give a tough fight to the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi.

The cricketer is known for his strong nationalist views and on multiple occasions, we have seen him share them on social media. Gautam never shies away from praising the Indian Army and he has always had positive words to say about the Indian Armed Forces and the work that they have done and are doing currently. Former Indian cricketers Mohammad Kaif, Mohammad Azharuddin and Navjot Singh Sidhu too set foot into politics after their cricket stint and soon Gautam Gambhir too will be joining this elite list.

Talking about Gambhir’s career, the cricketer hasn't officially resigned from the sport. In fact, he was part of this year's IPL where he represented Delhi Daredevils. Gambhir has been part of World Cup winning team under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni winning the 2007 T20 World Cup and also the 2011 World Cup respectively. On both the occasions, the left-handed batsman had a key role to play. He has played 58 Test matches and 147 ODIs for India till now.

All you need to know about late sridevi’s stint with politics

All you need to know about late Sridevi’s stint with politics

Bollywood buffs across the globe woke up to the unfortunate news of legendary performer Sridevi’s sudden demise on Sunday, February 25, 2017. The actress breathed her last on Saturday night in Dubai. The first ever female superstar of her generation always maintained an extremely private life and she barely spoke about her life in public. In fact, her Mom co-star Akshaye Khanna has gone on record to say that Sridevi is an “ultra non-communicator.” It was very difficult for entertainment journalists to be close to her for exclusive scoops. The 2017 release was the last time we witnessed the diva on the silver screen.

However, there were exceptions. In a rare and old interview given to Stardust, Sridevi spoke about her early life and interest in politics. Her father, K Ayyappan wanted her to follow the footsteps of her uncle, who was an MLA. But, Sridevi was not too confident about taking the plunge and ultimately gave the political world a miss.

“I do everything that my parents want me to. After entering the politics, I will seek advice from my father. After all, every politician has an adviser,” she had said.

Moreover, Sridevi did briefly campaign for a Tamil Nadu Assembly election for her dad, who was a Congress candidate for the Sivakasi Constituency in 1989. It was the first election after MG Ramachandran had died, and more than a dozen of film actors were contesting. Naturally, the presence of Sridevi was expected to add glamour in the race. Though she had moved to Bollywood by this time, the gorgeous lady was still a southern sensation. However, Sridevi refused to be a part of the political circus and confined her campaigning only to Sivakasi. She did not address any election rally but accompanied her father on his campaigns for three or four days.

Though Sridevi never entered the political arena herself, she did go on a campaign trail along with husband Boney Kapoor, for Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) candidate Amar Singh in Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh, for the General Elections.

The actress who began her career as a child actor and starred in cherishable blockbusters like Mr. India, Judaai and Chandini to name a few. The pan Indian star also ruled Bollywood had also done notable films down south such as Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, Moondram Pirai, and SP Parasuram.

Smriti irani claims she’ll quit politics after narendra modi’s retirement

Smriti Irani claims she’ll quit politics after Narendra Modi’s retirement

The fact that Smriti Irani is one faithful Modi associate is not really a secret. Ever since Smriti formed an alliance with the ruling party and went on to become the Textile Minister of India, she always makes it a point to display her loyalty towards the BJP. However, now, Smriti took a step further by declaring that she will leave politics after Modi’s exit. It all happened when Smriti Irani was a part of the Word Count Festival 2019 in Pune. A member from the audience asked ‘when will one see pradhan sevakSmriti Irani, to which she replied ‘never.’

Smriti said, "Never. I entered politics to work under charismatic leaders. I was very lucky to work under the leadership of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and I am currently serving under Modi Ji," She further asserted, "The day pradhan sevak Narendra Modi decides to hang his boots, I will also leave Indian politics. I decide for myself how much of my life I will give for my country, my society. In an independent country, if I cannot take a decision for myself, what is the use of that independence?"

Smriti also put all the speculations on rest that claimed - Narendra Modi’s political journey won’t last long and that he is planning to exit. The politician said, “People are presuming that Prime Minister Modi would not be there for long, but, I assure you that he will stay in politics for a long period of time.”

Ranbir kapoor votes regularly but does india’s political system affect him?

Ranbir Kapoor votes regularly but does India’s political system affect him?

Youth can boost the future of India, once said Prime Minister Narendra Modi. And when we say youth, Bollywood is not devoid of it. But is anyone from the Gen-Next club interested to be a part of politics and change the scene? Well, we don’t know about the rest but Ranbir Kapoor definitely has no plans to take that route. Forget joining, he is not even interested in making comments over the political scenes prevailing in our country. Even though he has done a movie like Raajneeti and is well-versed with all the gossip-mongering that goes on in the industry, the junior RK says he knows nothing about POLITICS!

He recently gave an interview to Mid-Day wherein he was questioned as to why he does not make political statements. To this, he said, “I don't make any political statements because I don't follow politics. Politics makes no difference in my life. I'm not at the brunt of anything. I live a luxurious life. I don't have water, or housing problems. I don't have any issues, so who am I to comment on politics?”
Huh… So, is he one of those citizens who will definitely step out to vote to flash their inked fingers (which he does every time), but he doesn’t care as to who is ruling the country? After all, he is the ‘responsible’ star of the nation.

Mahesh babu: i stay far away from politics

Mahesh Babu: I stay far away from politics

Mahesh Babu’s camp has made it clear every now and then that he isn’t cut out for politics, despite his huge fan base among the Telugu populace. Even recently, his wife Namrata had stated that Mahesh is highly apolitical and that he is not someone who can talk fluently at large public gatherings when he hardly converses at home. Mahesh has reiterated his political stance in a recent interview to national news agency IANS.

“I would like to say that politics was never meant for me and I don't understand it either. And I stay far away from it. We have able, strong and competent leaders who are doing a fantastic job running our states and country. I would never want to change that! I love acting and this is what I'm best at! I wouldn't change it for anyone or anything.”

Mahesh’s contemporary Pawan Kalyan is meanwhile a full time politician now and had recently said that he has put a stop to all his acting ventures.

Mahesh is putting his heart and soul into his 25th film Maharshi now and will be starting the shoot of his 26th film with director Anil Ravipudi in mid-2019. Maharshi will be releasing on April 25th and like how he had termed Bharat Ane Nenu ‘close to his heart’, he states the same for Maharshi too.

Amit bhatia is pretending to be 'happy' after losing to wife vanisha mittal

Amit Bhatia is pretending to be 'happy' after losing to wife Vanisha Mittal

Amit Bhatia, son-in-law of Lakshmi Mittal and the co-owner of Queens Park Rangers is living his life to the fullest. A glance at his Instagram profile and we bet it will make you jealous. Right from his family time to his travels, the lad’s schedule looks quite packed and organised. But if there's one thing which Mister Bhatia is fond of - it has to be golf. Recently, we bumped into a few Instagram stories of Amit Bhatia where we see him playing golf in a gaming space along with his family.

Going by his IG story, we first see Amit's children trying their hands at the game but it's his wife who comes to show off her golfing skills. Well, wifey Vanisha Mittal misses her target and could not hit the ball inside the hole. Later, when Amit flashes the scoreboard of the game, we get to see that Vanisha is the winner. Vanisha scores 352 points and Amit 342. Quite jokingly, Amit shares his losing experience as a 'miserable' one and states (through the IG caption) that he is acting to be happy.

Without a second thought, after seeing these IG stories, all we can affirm is that Amit Bhatia loves sports and so does his fam. Stay tuned to in.com for all the latest updates from the world of business.

World's richest man jeff bezos finally tops list of biggest donors

World's richest man Jeff Bezos finally tops list of biggest donors

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who is the world’s richest man, has often been called a cheapskate when it comes to giving away money to charity. But it looks like he can rid himself of that title because he has now emerged as a 2018's leading philanthropist in the United States. The 55-year old American businessman, who has a net worth of around $137 billion, along with his soon-to-be ex-wife MacKenzie Bezos, gave over $2 billion to charities and non-profits in 2018.

Reportedly, in the latest Philanthropy 50 list, a ranking of America’s top 50 donors compiled by the Chronicle of Philanthropy, Bezos made more charitable donations than anyone else in the US last year, including philanthropists with comparable fortunes such as former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg and Microsoft’s Bill Gates. Bezos’s presence at the top of the list came as a surprise to many as he has been frequently criticised in the past for not using his wealth to support good causes.

Back in 2017, Bezos requested and solicited ideas on Twitter for long-term charitable causes and received over 49,000 comments. Bezos and his wife donated a bulk of their giving to non-profits that help with homelessness and poverty. They also gave money to support funding pre-school education in low-income communities.

Other tech personalities that made it to the Philanthropy 50 in 2018 include names like Pierre and Pam Omidyar, Steve and Connie Ballmer, late Paul Allen, Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan and Craig Newmark.

Elon musk renames his twitter account to elon ‘tusk' and flashes a cryptic news announcement!

While Elon Musk’s feud with the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) seems to be never-ending, he has now left his followers in a whole new set of confusion and mystery. On Wednesday, the Tesla CEO changed his Twitter display name from Elon Musk to Elon Tusk. As if that wasn’t enough, Musk also teased his followers with a news announcement, which will be supposedly disclosed on Thursday at 2 pm. He then made a thread under his announcement tweet and replied ‘California.’

Well, in case all his fans were wondering what the news will be about, Musk revealed that it is related to Tesla. We wonder if it will be in regards to his ‘Tusk’, a new Tesla model or maybe, about his tussle with SEC. Elon’s cryptic tweets came a day after the Securities and Exchange Commission asked a federal court in Manhattan to hold him in contempt. It was in response to Tesla CEO’s tweets about the electric-vehicle manufacturer’s production levels, which were tweeted last week.

The tweets happened to be Musk discussing Tesla’s estimates for the automobile production volumes for 2019. Reportedly, SEC’s filed a claim in the court stating that those tweets violated a previous settlement between Elon and the agency. On February 19, 2019, Musk had taken to his Twitter account and posted a thread of tweets in which he shared an on-site photo, which he claimed to be 4,000 Tesla vehicles that were to be loaded on a San Francisco dock for shipment to Europe.

Musk then replied to his tweet saying that Tesla made 0 cars in 2011, but will make around 500K in 2019. However, he later corrected it to 400K.

Nirav modi makes another 'illegal' move, wears ostrich jacket worth 9 lakhs

Nirav Modi adds one more 'illegal' tag to his hat, wears an ostrich jacket worth 9 lakhs

Nirav Modi is a household name now. The fugitive diamantaire is the main accused in the over Rs 13,000-crore Punjab National Bank scam and the man was recently tracked down by UK-based The Telegraph. Now, a few days after an arrest warrant against him, Nirav Modi has been arrested in London after a year-long chase. Reportedly, he was arrested from a metro station in Holborn, in central London. It was on March 8, when The Telegraph released a video that showed Modi sporting a moustache and a beard and walking down the street in West London. In the video, he can be continuously heard replying to all of the reporter's questions with 'no comment'. With that being said, the internet went gaga over the fact that Nirav Modi was spotted donning an Ostrich leather jacket, which happens cost 10,000 pounds i.e. Rs 9 lakhs.

Ostrich skin is said to be super expensive due to its unique bump texture, which is the result of vacant quill follicles. The bird skin requires an intricate, specialised and expensive production process making its aesthetic value costly.  It was in 2016 when animal rights organisation PETA felt that ostriches were mistreated in the process of obtaining their leather. Allegedly, young animals are stripped of their feathers without any sedation (illegal as per World Ostrich Association) and then killed. PETA then asked for a ban on the illegal practice.

Spotting Nirav Modi wearing an Ostrich leather jacket makes us want to believe that the man loves flirting with everything illegal. He managed to fool the financial system in India and fled the country, but the law seems to have caught up with him and his extravagance. With news on Nirav Modi breaking every now and then, the internet is having its share of fun. Twitter could not keep calm over this ostrich skin jacket and also erupted with loads of emotions. Have a look at them below:

Additionally, for those not in the know, Paul Manafort, the former campaign manager for Donald Trump, who was reportedly convicted and sentenced to prison for millions of dollars of tax fraud also owns this exotic jacket, just like Nirav Modi. Looks like illegal activity and extravagance go hand-in-hand. What say?

Indian premier league 2019: ab de villiers, chris gayle, dinesh karthik and other batsmen who can give virat kohli a run for his money

The Indian Premier League begins in just a couple of days. As always, the tournament showcases some of the best cricketers from around the globe. Like every year, 2019 will also have cricketers contesting for the coveted orange cap. The Orange Cap is awarded to the batsman who scored the highest runs in the tournament. The list of high scorers keeps changing throughout the tournament and judging who the top scorer will be is a task. But what we can do, is come up with a list of players that you can keep an eye on.

Pandey is a dependable right-hander and is known as the first Indian batsman to slam a century in the IPL, back in 2009 when he was only 18. His innings consisted on 10 fours and 4 sixes, helping him reach 114 in 73 balls. Now at 29, he has played 118 matches, has 12 fifties and a century. He is a member of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

This wicketkeeper-batsman is England’s mainstay for the shorter version of cricket. A veteran of 37 IPL matches, Butler has aggregated 1,075 runs, slamming 6 fifties. He has a high-score of 95*. Butler is prolific with his stroke playing and his ability to find the gaps during the Powerplays.

The cricket fraternity was teary-eyed when AB announced his retirement from the game. Many thought it was a premature decision. Though he has retired from international games, he has been phenomenal in T20 leagues across the globe, especially in the Bangladesh Premier League and the Pakistan Premier League. Known as the 360-degree batsman, de Villiers is known to play unorthodox shots and can singlehandedly win matches.

Known as the Universe Boss, Gayle is on the wrong side of the thirties. But when most people hang their boots, Gayle is rethinking his retirement. On his day, ‘Gayle-storm’ can decimate any bowling attack. The West Indian has a total of 3,994 runs in the IPL, with a high-score of 175*. He has 24 fifties and 6 centuries in the IPL.

Karthik is a solid wicketkeeper-batsman who’s part of the middle order for India and Kolkata Knight Riders. With 3,401 runs in his IPL career, Karthik has got 15 fifties to his name. As the captain of his side, there’s going to be a lot riding on him.

Needless to say, this list is not conclusive. At the IPL, there’s no saying who steps up and produces a blinder. Of course, a lot of eyes will be on Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, but they are superstars who always hog the limelight. The guys mentioned here though are equally capable and can be top contenders for the Orange Cap.

IPL 2019: rohit sharma’s daughter samaira receives a special jersey from mumbai indians

Mumbai Indians may have started their Indian Premier League campaign with a punch to their face, but the team can’t complain about lack of support. Along with the sea of blue jerseys at the Wankhede stadium, Rohit Sharma’s team found the biggest support from the smallest member of their fanbase. The team shared on twitter a small jersey designed specifically for the biggest Mumbai Indians fan. The proud owner of the pint-sized jersey is none other than Samaira, the daughter of MI captain Rohit and his wife Ritika Sajdeh.

Samaira has been getting a lot of social media attention of late. On March 23, Ritika shared a video on Instagram and it drove their fans crazy. The video showed papa Rohit rapping a track from Gully Boy while holding up Samaira. The kiddo listened intently while her daddy showed off his skills. Samaira’s attention to her daddy probably left Ritika feeling a bit jealous. She commented that she tried making Samaira listen to Mozart but the little girl is digging Gully Boy raps songs!

Rohit and Ritika welcomed Samaira to their lives on December 30 in 2018. When Mumbai Indians took on Delhi Capitals last night, Rohit Sharma was in deep in action on the field while Ritika was pictured with Samaira in the gallery observing the match.

IPL 2019 highlights: andre russell, nitish rana and robin uthappa star in kkr’s 28 run victory against kxip

IPL 2019 Highlights: Andre Russell, Nitish Rana and Robin Uthappa star in KKR’s 28 run victory against KXIP

The iconic Eden Gardens is not known for a high-scoring T20 match. Yet when Kolkata Knight Riders went out to bat, Shah Rukh Khan’s team was determined to change that. Kings XI Punjab won the toss and sent KKR to bat. The Knight Riders made use of the batting track and churned out 218 runs with Nitish Rana (63), Robin Uthappa (67*) and Andre Russell (48) being the big hitters. Kings XI Punjab fell short of the target by 28 runs and ended with 190 in 20 overs.

Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine (24) set the tone of the match, starting the innings with a brutal attack. Unfortunately, both openers were dispatched soon, leaving Uthappa and Rana to deal with Kings XI’s bowling. The pair turned out to be resilient to captain Ravichandran Ashwin’s plans, belting out boundaries. Uthappa remained unbeaten at 67. He was efficient in rotating the strike and scoring as well. Rana on the other hand went on the offensive with 7 sixes.

IPL 2019 highlights: controversy erupts as kings xi punjab beat rajasthan royals by 14 runs

IPL 2019 Highlights: Controversy erupts as Kings XI Punjab beat Rajasthan Royals by 14 runs

Admit it, when the fixtures were announced you were searching all the matches involving Kings XI Punjab. We all were. Chris Gayle is close to calling it a day and we all wanted to see another Gayle-storm. As KXIP engaged with Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur, Gayle delivered. Eventually, Kings XI Punjab beat Rajasthan Royals by 14 runs in a match that will be talked about for some time. Royals won the toss and elected to bowl first. Punjab started their innings slow, losing KL Rahul early. Mayank Agarwal too didn’t last long. After Sarfaraz Khan’s (46) entry, things changed as Gayle took matters to his own hand.

Ending his innings with 8 fours and 4 sixes, Gayle (79) spearheaded the Punjab attack while Khan provided support. After Gayle’s departure off Ben Stokes, Khan continued his hard-hitting. Nicholas Pooran (12) provided him with brief support before Stokes bagged him. As for the Punjab bowlers, Stokes was hammered for 48 runs but managed to claim two wickets. Jaydev Unadkat was similarly punished, giving away 44 runs and taking no wickets. Dhawal Kulkarni and Krishnappa Gowtham picked up a wicket apiece. KXIP ended their innings with 184/4.

Heading out to bat, Rajasthan Royals started strong with skipper Ajinkya Rahane (27) and Jos Buttler. After Rahane’s departure, Sanju Samson and Steve Smith led the show with some great hits. Jos Buttler was exceptional with his batting and was pulling the game away from Punjab. However, a controversial move by Punjab's skipper Ravichandran Ashwin, had Buttler dismissed at 69. To put it simply, Buttler was Mankaded - it is a mode of dismissal that is often frowned upon as it is considered to be against the spirit of the game.

Buttler’s dismissal turned out to be a major talking point of the match. The law states: “If the non-striker is out of his ground from the moment the ball comes into play, to the instant when the bowler would normally have been expected to release the ball, the bowler is permitted to attempt to run him out.” The jury is still out over his dismissal as everyone is debating over the ethical aspect of it.

Siddharth deletes tweet with indirect jibe on Nayanthara after Vignesh Shivn's strong

Radha Ravi is facing huge flak for making distasteful comments about Nayanthara. The veteran actor was invited to be the chief guest at a press meet of Nayanthara-starrer Kolayuthir Kaalam. While speaking, he took digs at Nayanthara and made comments on the kind of roles she is being offered. Since the video went viral, many actors and actresses have been tagging his comments as misogynistic and condemning his words. Siddharth, who is known to express his comments on issues through his social media account, spoke up about the #Metoo movement and from what it may seemed like, it was a silent jibe at Nayanthara.

The actor wrote that he was shocked that the entire fraternity was silent or cynical about the #Metoo movement. And it's not called bravery if you speak up only when your own is affected. Earlier too he had condemned the Tamil film fraternity for keeping mum during the whole movement.

Nayanthara's Kolaiyuthir Kaalam producer regrets the Radha Ravi episode

At the recent trailer launch event of Kolaiyuthir Kaalam, Radha Ravi’s sexist comments against the film’s lead actress Nayanthara received a lot of flak, and rightfully so. There are also a lot of comments about the people who were cheering and clapping when Radha Ravi was making these cheap comments without any thought or sense; people are also questioning why no one dared to intervene Radha Ravi and stop him then and there on the stage. One of the producers of the film, V.Mathiyalagan of Etcetera Entertainment, and also a relative of Radha Ravi, has said that Radha Ravi was definitely at fault and expressed his apology to Nayanthara on behalf of Radha Ravi while speaking to a news daily.

“None of the people associated with the film could attend the event, unfortunately. Nayanthara doesn’t attend promotional events generally and I didn’t approach her for this event either. I arranged this trailer launch event with a good heart and decided to call industry seniors to get their blessings for our film. Radha Ravi shouldn’t have spoken like that on stage; I was not sure if intervening him on stage would be a good idea due to the presence of a large media contingent and other industry personnel. We usually invite people to talk about our film. I feel really bad for how all of this turned out,” he said.

NGT directs Noida to remove encroachments in sector 48

The National Green Tribunal has directed the removal of encroachments from the green belt in Noida sector 48 within two weeks.
A bench headed by Justice Raghuvendra S Rathore said that despite the order passed by NGT in August last year the green belt area has not been fully cleared.
"Therefore, NOIDA is directed to take appropriate steps in compliance of the order of the tribunal so as to clear up the entire green belt in question," the bench said.
The green panel also said that the land cleared of encroachments and structures, not part of the master plan 2021 and 2031, should be immediately restored as a green belt by planting trees.
The NGT directions came on a plea filed by some residents of Noida sector 48 seeking restoration of the green belt which was allegedly damaged due to unauthorised encroachments, excessive extraction of groundwater and other illegal activities.
The tribunal in order last year had said, All structures or constructions on the land in question shall be removed except those which have been marked in the layout plan or master plan of 2021 and 2031.
"Respondents shall also leave those areas of the green belt, presently where an interim order passed by court of law is subsisting.

Godhra train burning case: Court sentences convict Yakub Pataliya to life imprisonment

Representative Image

A special SIT court in Gujarat on Wednesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment in the 2002 Godhra train carnage case.
The court of Special SIT judge H C Vora convicted Yakub Pataliya based on submissions made earlier in the case by five other accused.
Pataliya was arrested by the Godhra Police in January 2018, nearly 16 years after being booked in connection with the incident in which 59 'karsevaks' were burnt alive in two coaches of the Sabarmati Express.
His trial was held at a special court set up at the Sabarmati Central Jail here.
