India expects immediate and safe return of IAF pilot: MEA tells acting Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner

Pakistan's acting Deputy High Commissioner was on Wednesday summoned by India in New Delhi, to lodge a strong protest over Pakistan Air Force's bid to attack Indian military installations, External Affairs Ministry sources said. Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah, who was summoned to the South Block here, also told Indian officials about capturing of an Indian pilot by Pakistani authorities, they said.
India also strongly objected to Pakistan’s vulgar display of an injured personnel of the Indian Air Force in violation of all norms of International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Convention. It was made clear that Pakistan would be well advised to ensure that no harm comes to the Indian defence personnel in its custody. India also expects his immediate and safe return.
It is unfortunate that instead of fulfilling its international obligation and bilateral commitment to take credible action against terrorist entities and individuals operating from its soil, Pakistan has acted with aggression against India, MEA told Pak envoy.
It was clearly conveyed that India reserves the right to take firm and decisive action to protect its national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity against any act of aggression or cross-border terrorism.
Regret was expressed at continuing denial by Pakistan’s political and and military leadership at the presence of terrorist infrastructure in territories under its control.
A dossier was handed over to Pakistan side with specific details of JeM complicity in Pulwama terror attack and the presence of JeM terror camps and its leadership in Pakistan. It was conveyed that India expects Pakistan to take immediate and verifiable action against terrorism emanating from  territories under its control.
India has accused Pakistan of using its Air Force to target Indian military installations on Wednesday morning in response to pre-dawn counter-terror strikes of Tuesday against Jaish-e-Mohammad camps in Pakistan.
In Islamabad, Pakistan's foreign office also summoned India's Acting High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia and condemned what it called "unprovoked ceasefire violations" by the Indian forces along the Line of Control resulting in killing of four civilians.

Imran Khan: If war begins, it won't be in my or Narendra Modi's control

Imran Khan: If war begins, it won't be in my or Narendra

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday reiterated his request for talks on terror with India even as he claimed that his forces shot down two MiG 21s this morning after they intruded into Pak air space.
In a televised message to India, Pakistan PM said that the two countries should sit down for talks as better sense must prevail. "If a war takes place, it will not be in my or Narendra Modi's control. If you want any kind of talks on terrorism, we are ready. Better sense must prevail. We should sit down and talk," Imran Khan said.
Hinting at the possible eventuality of the nulcear war, the Pak PM said that the two nations may not be able to afford to tread that path. "All wars in world history have been miscalculated, those who started the wars did not know where it will end. So, I want to ask India, with the weapons you and we have, can we afford miscalculation?" he added.
The Indian government has claimed that one MiG 21 plane crashed this morning after it was reacting to LoC intrusion by one Pakistan F-16 jet. While Pakistani jet was shot down, India lost its MiG 21 as well. The whereabouts of the pilot are unknown for now. Pakistan has claimed that they have two Indian pilots in custody, while India says only one is missing in action.

India vs Australia, 2nd T20I: Shikhar Dhawan's departure raises eyebrows, Twitterati have their say

Team India opener Shikhar Dhawan had a rather strange dismissal as his departure sparks controversy during the 2nd and final T20I against Australia in Bengaluru.
Dhawan lofted a shot over the covers in the second ball of the ninth over and goes a little close to the sweepers where Stoinis ran in and claimed the catch. The umpire had given the soft signal as out but went for a referral upstairs.
On the big screen in slow motion, the ball seemed to have touched the ground before it landed in Stoinis' hands, but he did have a finger underneath it. The umpires felt that it was the correct decision to adjudge Dhawan as OUT.
Here's how the commentary went on in our live blog
"OUT! The umpire feels Stoinis has his fingers underneath the ball and has given it in the fielding team's favor. I feel the soft signal has played a big part here as that could have gone either way. However, one can say, it is the right decision in the end. End of Dhawan's misery and India have lost both their openers in quick succession. Once again, the bowling change does the trick for the visitors. Behrendorff bowls it outside off and it is on a length. It is the cross-seam delivery. Sticks in the wicket a little. Dhawan lofts it over covers but it is a little too close to the sweeper. Stoinis there runs in and he seems to have taken it. The umpires though are not sure and they take it upstairs. The soft signal is out. After quite a few replays the umpire has decided to stay with the on-field call. Australia, just like the last game are crawling back into the game after the Powerplay."
The opener started his innings quite slow and was eventually on his way back after scoring 14 off 24 balls. However, his opening partner KL Rahul lit up Bengaluru after a fiery 26-ball 47 which included 3 fours and 4 sixes.
Here's how Twitter reacted to the decision made by the Umpire on Dhawan's dismissal.

PCB ready to counter India at ICC Meet, claims official

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has "prepared a counter" in case the BCCI decides to boycott the June 16 World Cup game in Manchester in the wake of Pulwama terror attack which killed 40 CRPF personnel.
The matter will come up for discussion at the ICC Quarterly meet in Dubai, starting Wednesday.
PCB Chairman, Ehsan Mani, MD Wasim Khan and COO Subhan Ahmad are in Dubai to attend the various meetings and workshops.
The very important Executive Board meeting is scheduled on Friday and Saturday in which the Indian delegation is expected to push for discussion on a letter it has sent to the ICC asking member countries to oust any member country which supporters terrorism.
Although it has not been named in the letter, BCCI wants other cricket boards to "sever ties with nation from which terrorism emanates".
Some of India's former players and captains have also called for India not to play Pakistan in the World Cup match on June 16.
"Pakistan's stance is that if India wants to give a walkover, it can't do anything about it. But it will pose a question as to what happens if both countries again qualify to meet each other in the knockout stages," the PCB official said.
The PCB is also expected to raise the issue of their captain Sarfaraz Ahmed being banned for four matches under the anti-racism policy of the ICC after the reconciliation process had been set into motion and he had apologised to the South African team.

Sushma Swaraj raises Pulwama terror attack with Chinese Foreign Minister

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday raised the recent Pulwama suicide attack in her crucial bilateral meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi here, a day after India destroyed a major Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) terror training camp in Pakistan.
"I am visiting China at a time when there is grief and anger in India. It is the worst terrorist attack directed against our security forces in Jammu and Kashmir," she said in her opening remarks during the meeting held on the side-lines of Russia, India, China Foreign Ministers meeting.
"The attack was carried out by Jaish-e-Muhammed, the Pakistan-based and supported terrorist organisation," she said.
Forty Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed in a suicide attack by Pakistan-based JeM in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on February 14, sparking outrage in the country.
Following the incident, India bombed and destroyed JeM's biggest training camp in Balakot in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, about 80-km from the Line of Control (LoC) early Tuesday, killing a "very large number" of terrorists, trainers and senior commanders.
Stating that the JeM is banned by the UN and other countries, Swaraj told Wang that “this terrorist attack is the direct result of the impunity and cover provided to the JeM and its leaders by the Pakistani side”.
“After the Pulwama attack the entire UN has spoken with full voice to condemn it,” she said.
Swaraj who arrived here early this morning told Wang that this is their first meeting this year and therefore an opportune time for the two sides to take stock of the bilateral relations and look ahead for cooperation.
“This is our first meeting this year. Therefore, an opportune time for us to take stock of our bilateral relations and look ahead for cooperation. The India-China relationship is an important relationship for both of our countries,” she said.

Google trends: Pakistanis more interested in Indian Air Force than Pakistan Air Force

According to an analysis of Google trends, people in Pakistan searched for the Indian Air Force more than the Pakistan Air Force on Tuesday. The analysis came after India carried out airstrikes at camps of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in Balakot inside Pakistan. The patterns of the graphs of five search terms that were popular on Tuesday - Indian Air force, Pakistan Air Force, Balakot, surgical strike and LoC were compared, which showed that the graph of Google searches for Indian Air Force remained above than the graph for its Pakistani counterpart, for much part of the day in Pakistan.
Moreover, the term 'surgical strike' remained the most popular term in India, suggested the search graphs of these terms for India and Pakistan, while the term 'Balakot' was the most searched term in Pakistan.
Early on Tuesday, jets of the Indian Air Force crossed the LoC and entered Pakistan's territory, where they dropped bombs on terror camps.
The news was broken by Pakistan at 5:12 am after its spokesperson of armed forces Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor tweeted that Indian Air Force has "violated" the LoC.
In another tweet, Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that the Indian Air Force jets dropped payloads and returned.
Pakistan, however, claimed that the IAF jets did not succeed in their operation and returned after being tracked by Pakistan.
By this time, the search trends for the airstrike took pace and topped Google trends. Meanwhile, search trends for the term 'Balakot' started gaining traction in Pakistan.
Search frequency for Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Army was lower than that for Indian Air Force, which was evident by a comparison of terms like 'Pakistan Army', 'Pakistan Air Force', 'Indian Air Force' and 'Indian Army'.

Indian films will not release in Pakistan: Pak govt after Indian air strikes

Indian films will not release in Pakistan: Pak govt after

The Pakistan government on Tuesday said no film from India will release in the country as it has called for a ban on Indian content after the Indian air force destroyed a terror training camp in Balakot.
The country's information and broadcasting minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the country's film exhibitors association will be boycotting the Indian films.
He also said that he has instructed the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to crack down on "made-in-India advertisements".
"Cinema Exhibitors Association has boycotted Indian content, no Indian movie will be released in Pakistan. Also have instructed PEMRA to act against Made in India Advertisements. #PakistanTayarHai" Hussain tweeted.
The minister's comments came on a day when India bombed and destroyed Jaish-e-Mohammed's (JeM) biggest training camp in Balakot in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, about 80-km from the Line of Control (LoC).
The bombing resulted in killing of a "very large number" of terrorists, trainers and senior commanders, officials said in New Delhi.
The air strikes came 12 days after the JeM carried out a suicide attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district that killed 40 CRPF soldiers.
In the wake of the terror attack, the makers of films such as "Total Dhamaal", "Luka Chuppi", "Arjun Patiala", "Notebook" and "Kabir Singh" had announced that they will not screening their movies the neighbouring country.

New mothers may experience drastic effects on their sleep for up to 6 years; Here's why

The joy of becoming parents is incomparable to any other feeling in this universe. While the birth of a child brings happiness for the parents, it has drastic effects on first-time mothers' sleep for up to six years according to the latest health study. The findings showed in the first three months after birth, mothers slept one hour less compared with a pre-pregnancy period, while father's sleep duration decreased by 15 minutes.
"While having children is a major source of joy for most parents, it is possible that increased demands and responsibilities associated with the role as a parent lead to shorter sleep and decreased sleep quality even up to six years after the birth of the first child."
"Women tend to experience more sleep disruptions than men after the birth of a child, reflecting that mothers are still the primary caregiver than fathers," said Sakari Lemola, from the Department of Psychology at the University of Warwick.
When the children were four-six years old, sleep duration was still about 20 minutes shorter in mothers and 15 minutes shorter in fathers compared with their pre-pregnancy sleep. A similar time course was also observed for their satisfaction with sleep.
For the study, published in the journal Sleep, the team examined 4,659 parents who had a child between 2008 and 2015. The amount of time a person sleeps, including daytime naps, is associated with the risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) and death. Insufficient sleep is also associated with obesity and behavioural problems in kids.
