Fishermen on the Gujarat coast have been asked not to venture into the sea and the public has been asked not to visit the beaches following the possibility of a cyclone hitting the Veraval coast on June 13.
According to an official communication from the Gujarat government, the cyclonic storm is likely to affect the coastal areas of Saurashtra and Kutch more. The cyclone is likely to hit the Arabian Sea, about 300 kilometers off India's west coast.
The Meteorological department in Ahmedabad said that the sea condition will be rough to very rough on June 12 and 13. The wind speed is likely to be 80 to 100 kilometer per hour.
Additional chief secretary Pankaj Kumar said the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, NDRF and SDRF teams are ready to deal with any kind of situation.
A high level meeting was convened in Gandhinagar on Monday in which weathermen gave a detailed presentation about the developing situation.
